PIER Startup Bootcamp

PIER Startup Bootcamp is a series of four startup workshops that PIER offers on a regular yearly basis. Focusing on different stages of business startup and entrepreneurship, the workshops provide early-career researchers interested in founding their own company with the necessary knowledge, skills and techniques. The workshops can be taken in a consecutive order but may also be booked individually.

PIER Startup Bootcamp I: Design Thinking

In this workshop, PhD students and postdocs get an overview of the Design Thinking approach, a creativity technique they can use to generate/utilize ideas from their own research results. In addition, they learn how to develop new products or services as well as their own business models using their own ideas. The workshop offers a mix of theoretical input as well as creative and practical group exercises, which encourage the participants to think and act like entrepreneurs when analyzing their ideas and business models. The workshop will be moderated by Andreas Voss (Concis Group!).

PIER Startup Bootcamp II: Business Modeling

Participants will learn how to develop business models based on their own ideas or research findings. The methodic focus will be on Business Model Canvas, Value Proposition Canvas and Systems Thinking. The workshop offers a mix of theoretical input as well as creative and practical group exercises, which encourage the participants to think and act like entrepreneurs when developing their value propositions, business models and organizations. The workshop will be moderated by Andreas Voss (concis Group).

PIER Startup Bootcamp III: Trends, Markets and Opportunities - Market Analysis for Startups

It is crucial for startups to develop a market-oriented perspective that is customer-centric. The aim of this workshop is to provide the participants with the basics of market analysis in an interactive and practical way. We will equip them with the tools they need in order to further develop their own business ideas and business models in line with market requirements and to position them successfully in the market. The workshop will be moderated by Andreas Voss (Concis Group!).

PIER Startup Bootcamp IV: Business Plan and Funding

In this workshop, PhD students and postdocs get an overview of the Business Plan and learn how they can transfer their own business ideas, Business Model Canvas or research results into this more classical framework. Besides covering topics including marketing, market research, legal structures and team development, the participants intensively examine various financing strategies and opportunities. The workshop will be moderated by Andreas Voss (Concis Group!).
